A new update has surfaced surrounding AEW star Keith Lee, who’s been out of action for close to two years now.
Lee’s last match was at AEW Collision: Holiday Bash 2023 on December 12, 2023, where he beat Brian Cage. He proceeded to call out someone while holding a cinder block and said that he would tear a “house” down, brick by brick, seemingly directed at Swerve Strickland, who took him out in 2022.
After his match with Cage, Lee was supposed to participate in Worlds End on December 30, 2023, but got pulled out due to undisclosed health reasons. He has been on a hiatus since undergoing double surgery in January 2024.
In June, the AEW star let everyone know that he was healthy and ready to go, but hadn’t been utilized. However, when a fan wanted to start a movement to bring him back, he made it clear that he wanted things to take their natural course.
Now, a latest update from Fightful Select notes that Lee’s name has been “tossed around here and there” backstage, and hopes are high about a potential AEW in-ring return, as he has been cleared to compete since the summer.
However, the report added that nothing was finalized or concrete yet.
Last time Keith Lee was on AEW TV was on December 23, 2023.
That’s now over 1.5 years and soon to be 2 years. His health condition had apparently been difficult for a long time, and there are no signs of a return.
I really hope we get to see him again…#AEW#Keithleepic.twitter.com/VWZaX0RPc4

If Lee finally returns, it will be interesting to see if he will still go after Strickland, who is now a babyface, to settle old scores.
A Look Back At Keith Lee’s AEW Run So Far
After a three-year stint with WWE, Keith Lee debuted on the February 9, 2022, episode of Dynamite and beat Isiah Kassidy of Private Party. The next month at Revolution pay-per-view, he competed for the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match but was unsuccessful, with Wardlow winning the bout.
Lee then teamed up with Swerve Strickland in late February of 2022 as “Swerve in Our Glory.” They won the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Fyter Fest 2022 from The Young Bucks but lost it to The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) on the September 20, 2022, episode of Dynamite.
For anyone who says Keith Lee in AEW was a flop, lemme remind you that he was putting on bangers his entire run there. https://t.co/b0RGSMPKv7

Swerve in Our Glory disbanded after Strickland formed the Mogul Embassy and took out Lee by nailing the Diving Stomp with a cinder block. The Limitless One returned in 2023 and formed an alliance with Dustin Rhodes as “Naturally Limitless.”
