VICE TV provided an update as to whether or not fans can expect a fourth season of Dark Side of the Ring.
Jim Ross recently revealed that he didn’t plan to be part of future episodes of Dark Side of the Ring if it was renewed for a fourth season, stating that he was unhappy with some of the editing choices and felt misrepresented on the program.
Shortly thereafter, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the series had yet to be renewed, although he didn’t believe that Jim Ross’ lack of involvement played a part in the decision.
“I’ve not heard of them doing another season. The ratings were down for this season. But… The idea of not doing a season wouldn’t be over Jim Ross and they will always be able to get guests. There might be some people who will say no. There were people who said no before to them. You don’t get everyone.”
“It’s just a question if they can come up with viable topics, and they’re renewed. It’s still… Even though this prior season was like the big, really successful season, this one… But, you know, you still had some very good episodes in the last season and there’s an endless supply of ideas that you can do. So, it’s just up to Vice essentially greenlighting another season. But, I have not heard anything about another season.” (h/t Ringside News)
However, VICE TV took to social media today to respond to rumors of the show’s demise, saying that those rumors have been greatly exaggerated.
“We’ve heard some rumors flying around about Season 4 of Dark Side of the Ring. We are as committed as ever to both the series and the broader Dark Side franchise. Evan and Jason are hard at work making more content that we know our fans of the series will love. Stay tuned.”
