A new report has given an update on Cody Rhodes’ WWE future now that Triple H has been appointed Head of Creative.
At WrestleMania 38 Cody Rhodes returned to WWE for the first time since 2016. In the process he became the first major AEW star to leave the company and head to WWE.
At the Showcase of the Immortals Rhodes defeated Rollins before beating him again at WrestleMania Backlash and Hell In A Cell. Ahead of the match at the latter the American Nightmare sustained a serious pectoral injury, but wrestled despite the issue.
After the event the star was written off television had has since undergone surgery.
While Rhodes has been out of action Vince McMahon has retired from WWE, with Triple H appointed Head of Creative. This has led some fans to question what role Rhodes will have in the company when he returns due to his previous rocky relationship with The Game. The star famously smashed a Triple H-style throne during one of his entrances while with AEW.
Speaking to Inside The Ropes, Rhodes also admitted that he was angry with Triple H for how he treated him prior to his departure in 2016.
However, it appears that the former AEW star is still set for big things when he returns. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast noted that there are “a lot of plans” for Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
While there is no official time frame for Rhodes return at this time, upon him taking time off WWE announced that he would be out for up to nine months. Although it is widely expected that the star could be back for the Royal Rumble in early 2023.
