A new report has given an update on the status of Cody Rhodes as the speculation around the star reached fever pitch.
With WrestleMania 38 just days away, the rumour and innuendo surrounding former AEW star Cody Rhodes has hit new heights.
Ever since Cody Rhodes announced that he had left AEW on February 15th, he has been linked with a return to WWE. Rhodes worked for the company from 2006 until 2016 before heading to Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, eventually helping launch AEW in 2019.
While it has been reported that Rhodes has in fact already re-signed with WWE, he has yet to appear on television. Despite this, it has long been reported that the American Nightmare will be stepping into the ring with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38.
Meanwhile, Rollins has been doing everything he can to try and get on the WrestleMania card. This came to a head on the March 21st episode of the red brand where he threatened to take stop the ‘go-home’ edition of the show before WrestleMania even taking place. As a result, some fans have expected Rhodes to appear on March 28th in order to challenge Rollins.
However, a new report has noted that Rhodes is not on the internal script for the show. The report from Fightful Select adds that the teases of his impending arrival are expected to continue. In fact, as of last week, Rhodes was scheduled to fly into Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky on March 28th. It is unknown why he is there.
It’s worth noting that would put him a four and a half hour drive away from Raw in Pittsburgh, with no direct flights available between the two destinations. Rhodes is still internally listed as appearing on the Raw following WrestleMania on April 4th.
