Dave Meltzer has now provided an update on the likelihood of Billy Gunn appearing on DX 25th Anniversary Raw.
On the October 10 edition of Monday Night Raw, live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, WWE will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of D-Generation X, with Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, and X-Pac. The only notable absentee from the list of names is Billy Gunn, who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling and serving as the on-screen manager for tag team champions The Acclaimed.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has now provided an update on Billy Gunn’s status for the show. Meltzer noted that even though Tony Khan allowed Bryan Danielson, Paul Wight, and Chris Jericho to appear on John Cena’s 20th Anniversary Raw via video packages, things have seemingly changed since the arrival of the new regime:
“The 10/10 Raw from the Barclays Center will be the billed as the DX 25th anniversary celebration. Of the core group, obviously, HHH, Michaels and Road Dogg would be there and they can always bring back Sean Waltman. The other key member would be Billy Gunn.
There was a chance a few months ago that they could have gotten him since Tony Khan allowed his talent to do taped interviews on the John Cena show, but the lay of the land tells me the odds aren’t as good for that to happen now. I was told that if a “Daddy Ass” chant happens they’ll be ready.”
While Meltzer did not openly refer to it, he was hinting towards the heat between the two promotions due to WWE allegedly reaching out to former WWE Stars who are now signed with AEW.
