The following article contains spoilers about the August 3rd episode of NXT.

A segment involving NXT Champion Karrion Kross which is due to appear on the August 3rd episode of NXT had to be re-shot after fans got a little bit too involved.

On July 21st NXT taped the next two episodes of the show due to it being pre-empted to Syfy from the USA Network due to their coverage of the Olympics.

This weeks edition of NXT saw Karrion Kross take out William Regal, one week after he choked out Samoa Joe in the ring after Joe had been the special referee in Kross’ successful title defence against Johnny Gargano.

During the segment which will appear in two weeks time, Kross was supposed to come to the ring and cut a short promo before Samoa Joe ran in and Kross escaped before a brawl could begin.

However, the segment quickly went awry.

On the most recent episode of Monday Night RAW Kross made his main roster debut, where he was surprisingly beaten by Jeff Hardy. The NXT fans ceased on this and Kross was serenaded with Jeff Hardy chants from the moment he appeared on the ramp.

According to Trent Osborne of Bodyslam.net, the NXT Champion was “showered with chants of ‘Hardy’ from the moment he entered the arena.” Osborne added that the segment was “taken over” by the chants.

Osborne also noted that sources revealed that fans in attendance were told that there was a “surprise” coming at the end of the show so they didn’t leave. The surprise was of course the re-shoot of the earlier hijacked segment.

Karrion Kross’ defeat on RAW especially noteworthy as he was previously undefeated in singles action since signing with WWE in February 2020. Since joining the black and gold brand, Kross has defeated the likes of Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano and Keith Lee.

It was later reported that many within NXT were left “shocked and frustrated” with how the appearance was handled.
