Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship at WWE Money In The Bank against Edge!
The Rated R Superstar made a stunning return to SmackDown on June 25th attacking the champion and his Special Counsel Paul Heyman.
The pair had earlier come to the ring, declaring to the world that there was no one left for Reigns to face, having beaten everyone who has stood in his path. Heyman described how Reigns was going to do something that “has never been seen on network television before” as Edge made his unexpected return.
Edge proceeded to hit Reigns with a devastating Spear before setting up the champion for the con-chair-to. Jimmy Uso ran to the ring to save his illustrious cousin, only to be speared through the barricade for his troubles.
Edge had been absent from WWE television since being pinned by Reigns at WrestleMania 37. At the showpiece event, Reigns defended the Universal Championship in a Triple Threat Match against The Rated R Superstar and Daniel Bryan.
The two men initially crossed paths after Edge won the 2021 Royal Rumble and chose to face Reigns at WrestleMania. It was a decision which instantly placed the Superstars at loggerheads.
The clash at Money In The Bank will be the first time that Reigns and Edge have met in one on one competition.
WWE Money In The Bank will take place on July 18th in Fort Worth,Texas. The event will see a WWE pay-per-view take place in front of the crowd for the first time since February 2020.
