Damian Priest will meet a familiar face at Extreme Rules when he defends his United States Championship against former champion Sheamus.
The Archer of Infamy beat Sheamus for the championship at SummerSlam, and now the Irish Superstar has won his way back into contention.
On RAW, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre squared off for the right to face Priest at Extreme Rules. Both men faced Priest in Triple Threat action only a week previously but came up short. On that occasion, Priest pinned McIntyre with the Reckoning to claim the win.
This time around the former friends and World Champions met one-on-one in a typically hard-hitting affair. Sheamus earned the initiative with a huge Super-plex but McIntyre fought back. However after, the Scottish Superstar attempted a headbutt, he hurt himself on Sheamus’ mask instead.
Into the final stretch momentum seemed to be with McIntyre who ripped his rival’s mask off. With the Scottish Warrior zeroing in on victory, Sheamus ducked a Claymore attempt, rolling up McIntyre with a handful of tights to grab the win.
Despite being pinned, McIntyre got the last laugh by hitting Sheamus with the mask and finally landing a Claymore.

Priest has been on a roll in 2021, having not been beaten in singles competition since he lost to Karrion Kross while still in NXT.
The Archer of Infamy joined NXT in late 2018, going on to win the North American Championship. Following his defeat to Kross at NXT New Year’s Evil, the Puerto Rican star put on strong showing in the 2021 Royal Rumble Match.
After moving to RAW, Priest joined forces with Hip Hop star Bad Bunny clashing with The Miz and John Morrison. The Puerto Rican team went on to defeat Miz and Morrison at WrestleMania 37.
