The WWE Universe has had a love-hate relationship with Kevin Owens for some time, but fans continue offering immense support to the polarizing pro wrestler as he deals with a health situation. Following surprising details on why Owens was pulled from the ring, another update on his status is fueling the rumor mill today.
The Prizefighter has not wrestled since his 28-minute Unsanctioned Match victory over Sami Zayn at WWE Elimination Chamber on March 1. The 41-year-old recently appeared on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, to reveal shocking details on his current health situation, noting that the trauma was exacerbated in January, while feuding with The American Nightmare. At one point, doctors told KO he could die if he were to be hit the wrong way due to the condition of his spinal cord, which kept him off WrestleMania 41.
Owens was still unsure if he would need to undergo surgery as of late June, and everything depended on how his spinal cord healed. He revealed that he had been feeling pretty good until “every symptom you’d expect” hit him at once last month: neck pain, sensations running down his arms, with his legs “not really responding,” and added that the symptoms felt brutal.
After months of rumors and speculations, now word from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is that the former Universal Champion is set to go under the knife.
Kevin Owens Expected For Surgery This Summer
Kevin Owens is now expected to undergo neck surgery, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer. Following the operation, the Canadian superstar could be out of action for another nine months, but wrestlers often miss a year or more after similar surgeries.
The Prizefighter stated last month that he could be undergoing surgery in mid-July, if all goes well. Owens was hoping doctors would recommend a “normal neck fusion” surgery, but noted that the details would not be decided on until another examination of the condition of his spinal cord. KO also disclosed how WWE has put him in touch with the top spinal surgeons in the country.
Kevin Owens recently went viral for expressing interest in a big match that could take place thanks to the WWE-TNA partnership. The Prizefighter was feuding with Randy Orton at the time of his hiatus.
