Report Claims Undertaker Elimination Chamber Appearance Scrapped

The Undertaker

A report has offered details on plans which would have seen The Undertaker appear at the recent Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia.

On February 18th it was announced that The Undertaker will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The announcement came almost two years after The Phenom wrestled his last match at WrestleMania 36 against AJ Styles.

Following the match, The Deadman appeared at the 2020 Survivor Series for a ‘Final Farewell,’ at the event where his WWE career began three decades earlier. To date this is the last time that the former World Champion appeared on WWE television.

However, it has now been reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, that there had been plans for him to appear at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia. The appearance wouldn’t have involved a match, only to celebrate his upcoming Hall of Fame induction. As it transpired, the same tribute package that was shown on the previous episode of SmackDown was played.

The Undertaker wasn’t the only WWE legend who was originally scheduled to appear at Elimination Chamber. At one stage, plans called for him to be joined by Kurt Angle. In the lead-up to the event it was reported that Angle was supposed to serve as the special guest referee in a Raw Tag Team Title match between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy.

Speaking on his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer has now confirmed that this was indeed the original plan for the event.

By the time that the show rolled around, the match between RK-Bro and Alpha Academy had been removed from the card altogether. While neither the tag team champions or Randy Orton wrestled on the show, Riddle appeared in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. He was eliminated by eventual winner Brock Lesnar.
