Following The Rock’s declaration that he would indeed run for US President – if it’s what the people wanted – The Undertaker has weighed in, saying he believes his friend and fellow WWE legend could become the true People’s Champion and unite a country that’s become incredibly divided in recent years.
Speaking with TMZ, The Deadman had high praise for The Rock, saying he “dives in wholeheartedly whenever he decides to do something before tipping The Great One for a presidential run.
“That man works his tail off and he dives in wholeheartedly in everything that he does and if he gets his mindset that he wants to make a run at politics, ya know what? I think he’ll do it.”
When asked whether The Rock could mend the political divide, Undertaker – who recently retired from professional wrestling on the 30th anniversary of his WWE debut – said he could be the “united the people are looking for” due to his charm and wit.
The Deadman continued, joking that The Rock could electrify an entire country and gain supporters the same way he did in the ring – by simply lifting the People’s Eyebrow, or smashing them with the People’s Elbow if that didn’t work.
“I think so. He’s so charming, he’s so witty, I think he can be the uniter that people are looking for.”
Taker went on to say he would support The Rock “wholeheartedly” – no matter what he decides to do.
“I know that he has the charisma. Maybe all it would take would be one eyebrow, and he’d look at the left, raise the eyebrow. Look at the right, raise an eyebrow and hit ’em with ‘the People’s Elbow.'”
However, the WWE legend insists he isn’t keen on calling his friend “President” even if he does end up in office, joking that he’d still be calling his fellow locker room mate “Jabroni” – even if he ends up holding the most powerful position on the planet.
“I don’t know man, there’s so many possibilities and if that’s what he chooses to do, I’ll support wholeheartedly in his efforts to do so.”
“I think people would still call him Rock, I don’t know. I would hope I would have that clout that I can get away with calling him Rock, or Jabroni.”
So, will The Great One decide to try and become the true People’s Champion as the President of the United States? It looks like he’ll have some pretty big supporters if he decides to do so! Stay tuned to Inside The Ropes for more news as this story develops.
