WWE fans in the UK hoping for a WrestleMania to make its way across the pond may be waiting even longer than anticipated following a new update.
Ever since John Cena first put the idea out into the open at Money in the Bank 2023 in London fans in the UK have been more optimistic than ever before that The Show of Shows could take place in the country. The idea was only furthered by Triple H and Nick Khan having a meeting with London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Cody Rhodes agreeing with the idea in a recent interview. However, while Mania is big, an even bigger event could shatter hopes and dreams.
In an update by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is open to the idea of having the Super Bowl at Wembley Stadium, the biggest WWE show of the year is no longer the biggest event:
“Rhodes was on BBC Live talking about Mania in the U.K., and said, “If I’m aiming, it would be cool to get it in the next five years. There’s some really big venues over here that could host a WrestleMania. I think American fans would jump at the chance to come to a WrestleMania whether that be in Manchester or London, I think they’d go nuts for it.”
“There is real talk of that, but when Roger Goodell talked about the idea of a Super Bowl at Wembley Stadium, when it comes to WWE, they’re now in a distant second place when it comes to priorities in the city”
WWE Begins Build To Mania 41
The biggest event in its 40-year history took place back in April with every record shattered in Philadelphia. Looking to go even bigger in 2025, the biggest show of the year will make its way to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for another 2-night event. In just over a week’s time, tickets for WrestleMania 41 will officially go on sale.
