WWE producer and former WWE Superstar Tyson Kidd aka TJ Wilson, has moved to praise the work of the company’s women’s division during the COVID-19 pandemic, before singling out one star in particular who he believes is set to “surprise a lot of people.”
Alongside Drew McIntyre’s WWE title reign on RAW and Roman Reigns’ assent on SmackDown, the women’s division has consistently been one of the most highly acclaimed elements of WWE programming during the last 12 months.
While the performances of SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks and Bayley may have stolen the headlines, the likes of Charlotte Flair, Asuka and now Bianca Belair have delivered consistently when needed.
Across WWE as a whole, the women’s roster has arguably never been stronger, but TJ Wilson agrees that Banks and Bayley have been the real stand out performers.
Speaking to Spencer Love of Love Wrestling, the man formerly known as Tyson Kidd, described the pair as the “MVP’s of the pandemic wrestling.”
“I don’t know if I’m biased, but I do work with [Sasha and Bayley] a lot. I don’t know – if they weren’t the MVP’s of this pandemic wrestling, then I honestly don’t know who are [or] who is.”
While Wilson was also quick to acknowledge that the rest of the women’s roster has also stepped up and made the most of their opportunities, he went on to name one Superstar in particular who could be about to surprise a lot of people.
“I think Billie Kay is gonna surprise a lot of people as well. Like I think that Triple Threat [with Natalya and Bianca Belair] opened a lot of eyes that maybe hadn’t seen Billie in a certain light before. We already know that she has personality for days. We already know that. So, it’s good to show that she also has some ring prowess as well.”
Kay hasn’t seen much in-ring action of late, but her appearances on SmackDown have drawn praise from fans and former Superstars across the board.
Since defeating Bayley to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Sasha Banks has gone from strength to strength. After standing tall over SmackDown women’s roster, The Boss is set to face a new challenger in the form of Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 37.
However, before the two face off at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’ they will join forces to take on WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler at WWE Fastlane.
You can follow all of the action from WWE Fastlane live as it happens here at Inside The Ropes.
