On the December 10 edition of NXT UK, inaugural WWE United Kingdom Champion Champion Tyler Bate returned to the black and red brand.
Strutting onto Noam Dar’s new Supernova Sessions talk show to confront the host and congratulate the NXT UK Heritage Cup Champion, A-Kid, Bate soon became embroiled in a verbal confrontation with the Scot.
After several exchanged words, Dar baited Tyler into a clash with the Spaniard following the Birmingham native opining that he had been one of the names seeded for the tournament.
In the main event of the evening, it was Kid who prevailed in a NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship Match two falls to one. Countering an A-Kick, Bate went for his patented rebound clothesline only to find himself tied into a series of pinfalls.
Unable to counter the final roll-up, the big strong boi found himself with a tick in the loss column for his first match back in eight months and even teased a heel turn post-match, when he observed the champion from afar looking as if he was about to attack.
The last time we saw Tyler Bate inside a ring was April 2, as one of the competitors in the Battle Royal to crown a new number one contender to the NXT UK Championship. Reaching the final two, Bate was eliminated by a Torpedo Moskau from Ilja Dragunov as he skimmed the cat back into the ring.
Absent from television even when NXT UK relaunched, it was said that Bate was taking time away from the ring in order to find himself and get his life in order.
