Tyler Bate Defeats A-Kid To Claim NXT UK Heritage Cup

Tyler Bate

On the most recent episode of NXT UK Tyler Bate defeated A-Kid to claim the NXT UK Heritage Cup.

The victory means that Bate has become the first man to hold both the NXT United Kingdom Championship and the Heritage Cup.

Bate returned to a NXT UK ring in December 2020 after an enforced nine-month absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon his return Bate immediately challenged A-Kid, although he was defeated in the sixth round. However, the Dudley born Superstar once again became Number One Contender defeating Noam Dar at NXT UK Prelude in April.

On this occasion Bate wasn’t to be denied, rolling up A-Kid in the sixth round to claim victory.

After the match the former champion handed the trophy to Bate applauding before leaving the ring as a sign of respect to the British star.

Kid-A took to Twitter in the aftermath of his defeat to praise the new champion.

“We all need good stories to get through the hard times. This is the end of a beautiful story for me. The Heritage Cup’s future is in good hands. It’s time to think about what’s next for me…”

Tyler Bate rose to prominence in early 2017 when he won a tournament to be crowned the inaugural NXT United Kingdom Champion. In winning the championship aged just 19, Bate is currently the third youngest champion in WWE history.

Bate later went on to win the NXT Tag Team Championships alongside Trent Seven.
