WWE have announced two title matches for the upcoming June 7th edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
Next week’s show will see Apollo Crews defend his Intercontinental Title against Kevin Owens, while the Usos will take on Rey and Dominik for tag team gold.
The most recent episode of SmackDown saw The Usos team together for the first time in over a year to take on The Street Profits. The Usos eventually picked up the win and then headed backstage to find Adam Pearce to request a title opportunity the following week.
In the main event of the show, Rey and Dominik Mysterio defeated Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler to retain their Tag Team Titles. Setting up the match for June 7th in the process.
Rey and Dominik Mysterio won the tag team titles at WrestleMania Backlash, defeating Roode and Ziggler. In doing so, they became the first father and son team in WWE history to win the gold.
Since his return, Jimmy Uso has been at odds with his brother Jey and Roman Reigns. After the pair won their match, Reigns confronted Jey and questioned why he had gone back to teaming with his brother.
Later on in the show Kevin Owens took on Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews in a non-title match. After Owens gained the upper hand, hitting Crews with a Stunner, Commander Azeez interfered hitting KO with the Nigerian Nail causing the disqualification.
Backstage, Owens asked Adam Pearce to give him a match against Crews where Azeez would be unable to interfere. Peace then set the match for June 7th, declaring that Azeez would be banned from ringside.
Elsewhere on the show, Natalya and Tamina retained their Women’s Tag Team Titles against the Riott Squad, while Bianca Belair saw off the challenge of Carmella. The SmackDown Women’s Champion picked up the win with the KOD as Bayley continued to taunt her from ringside.
