With AEW’s first big PPV of the year, Revolution, three weeks away, the show’s card is starting to take shape. Aside from the now-confirmed 60-minute Ironman match between MJF and Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship, two additional matches – one title match and one special stipulation match – were also confirmed on the February 15th edition of Dynamite.
The first match was announced to clear up the AEW World Tag Team Championship situation. Initially, Renee Paquette announced that there would be a series of qualification matches over the next few weeks to determine two challenging teams to take on the new AEW tag champions The Gunn Club at Revolution.
But before Paquette could finish her explanation, she was interrupted by The Acclaimed, who won an unrelated tag earlier in the show. The former tag champions announced that they were invoking their rematch clause at Revolution, which therefore turned the three-way tag match that was originally scheduled for revolution into a four-way tag match.
The other two tag teams will be determined over the course of the next few weeks.
Tag Team Title match and Texas Deathmatch added to AEW Revolution
The second match added to the card for AEW Revolution was essentially a grudge match. After “Hangman” Adam Page won a quick match, Jon Moxley came down to the ring and the two men exchanged words.
There was still this sense of unfinished business between them and Moxley noted that Hangman “had no friends”. But before the two could get physical, members of the Dark Order came out to help Hangman out and even the odds.
But instead of fighting right then and there, Moxley decided that he and Hangman needed to settle the score once and for all. Thus, Moxley proposed a Texas Deathmatch at AEW Revolution, which Hangman accepted. Moments later, it was announced that Tony Khan had made that match official.
As of this writing, four matches have now been confirmed for AEW Revolution:
- AEW World Heavyweight Championship: MJF [c] vs. Bryan Danielson
- AEW TNT Championship match: Samoa Joe [c] vs. Wardlow
- AEW World Tag Team Championship Four-way tag match: The Gunns [c] vs. The Acclaimed vs. TBD vs. TBD
- Texas Deathmatch: Jon Moxley vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
