WWE has gained two more stars from AEW according to reports.
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo, known collectively as The Lucha Bros, have not been seen on AEW TV since July, but have made multiple appearances in Mexico since. It was previously reported that the tag team were set to be a part of AEW All In and win the Trios Titles inside Wembley Stadium but were pulled from the show as they were leaving the company when their contracts expired.
As reported by PWNexus, Penta and Fenix have signed a multi-year deal with WWE and are going to bypass NXT and head straight to the main roster. Further information was also provided on WrestleVotes Radio, who added that the signing is likely “A done deal” and that merchandise including masks and t-shirts is already in production ahead of their impending debut.
However, the latest update from Fightful Select reports that the deal is not yet done, and Rey Fenix is still under contract with AEW. It further noted that both the stars are still on the Jacksonville-based promotion’s official page. Although extremely likely to join WWE, the transition now will not go as smoothly as expected.
During their time in the company, Penta and Fenix reigned as the Tag Team and Trios Champions collectively and Fenix reigned as the International Champion. It has been previously rumoured for a number of months that the former Tag Team Champions were looking at leaving the promotion when their contracts expired.
Lucha Bros Expected To Become The Latest Names To Move From AEW To WWE
The past 12 months have seen multiple former stars from All Elite Wrestling leave the company and sign with the competition. Beginning with Jade Cargill in late September 2023, other notable names to exit in the past year and have joined WWE include Andrade, Ethan Page, Shawn Spears, and CM Punk.
In a new update, things are far from straightforward for Rey Fenix.
