Tucker – “Vince Doesn’t Feel Like The Tag Division Can Draw Money”

Tucker Otis Heavy Machinery

Tucker, formerly of Heavy Machinery and WWE has discussed his thoughts on the tag team division is viewed by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Tucker began teaming with Otis Dozovic in NXT in 2016 before christening themselves as Heavy Machinery. Despite not finding tag team gold in NXT, the duo found a following among fans who loved their antics. A move to the main roster of WWE followed for the team in 2019 and their following among the WWE Universe only grew further.

As the straight man of the duo, Tucker was the perfect foil for Otis and his wild antics. A love story developed between Otis and Mady Rose with the villainous Dolph Ziggler trying to thwart Otis’ advances. Success came for Otis at the Money In The Bank event in 2020. In a match that culminated on the roof of WWE’s corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, Otis became one of Money In The Bank’s most unlikely winners ever.

Speaking on The OTR Show, Tucker discussed the rumour at the time that Otis could have cashed in his briefcase for a shot at tag team gold for the pair. According to Tucker, he doesn’t think that would have happened as he doesn’t feel Vince McMahon values tag team wrestling that highly.

Tucker explained:

“I don’t think so, no. I’d have no idea. Just based on my thought, to me I feel like Vince doesn’t feel like the tag division can really draw money. At least that seems to be the way that they’re booked. Even when they have a super emotional story, they might get twenty minutes at the most. They’re never getting forty minutes, they’re never going on last. And the Money in the Bank is like one of the biggest things in the company, it’s one of the biggest prop gimmicks that there is. It’s a ticket to a world title, there’s very few people that have unsuccessfully cashed it. It’s like the thing they used to catapult someone, essentially. It would be nice to think they’d use it for us to win the tag team championships, but I don’t think it was the plan. And if it was, it never got there.”

Indeed, Otis never got a chance to cash in his briefcase as he lost it to The Miz at Hell In A Cell 2020 after Tucker shockingly turned on his partner – which is something else Tucker is at a loss to explain.
