Trish Stratus has admitted that a potential WWE return is not as straightforward as some may think.
2025 will mark 25 years since the WWE Hall of Famer made her in-ring debut and Stratus has already stated that she is looking to celebrate the milestone with a return to the ring. Although many would love to see the 7-time Women’s Champion back in action for one more run, Stratus is aware that she has a hard act to follow.
The Hall of Famer last competed against Becky Lynch in a steel cage match at Payback 2023. The match was easily the best of the night and is regarded as one of the best matches of the year. With this in mind, Stratus is aware of the task at hand.
Speaking with Rick Ucchino of Sports Illustrated, Stratus stated that she doesn’t know if the cage match can be topped:
“I have to be able to deliver a hundred percent. Then also, it has to be something challenging and different for the fans. And it has to do something and mean something. To leave off on this epic moment that’s memorable and people talk about it, it’s hard. Like, what can top that?”
Later in the interview, Stratus touched on her potential return and how there are many factors at play:
“I think it’s like examining the landscape and seeing what works best for everyone,” Stratus said about the prospects for her return. “There’s so many parties to consider. The person that is in the storyline, the WWE. It’s really collaborative.”
Trish Stratus Names Possible Future Opponent
Given the depth of talent on the roster, Stratus is not short on opponents if a comeback is on the cards. Speaking in a previous interview, Trish Stratus outlined one WWE goal she had in mind before retiring, which involved a match against a top star.
