Triple H has attempted to clarify Vince McMahon’s WWE role now that he is in position as Executive Chairman.
While Vince McMahon is officially back with WWE to help with the sale of the company, rumours about his involvement have continued to swirl. Although there are steps being taken towards the company being sold, some fans have questioned whether he will be tempted to become involved in running creative once more.
Triple H Discussed Vince McMahon’s Return
It has now been reported that Triple H held a short talent meeting ahead of the January 13th edition of Friday Night SmackDown in Green Bay, Wisconsin. According to PWInsider there were two main points on the agenda for the meeting.
The report notes that WWE Chief Content Officer thanked all talents present for their hard work and assured them that Vince McMahon has returned to sell the company.
“told them that Vince McMahon’s involvement since returning is to spearhead the search to see if to sell and to who they may sell the company to.”
In addition, The Game stated that none of this will affect the current creative team or creative process.
A further report from Fightful Select reiterated the same point. Fightful added that Triple H told talent that while he and McMahon may have discussions, he has the final say. Although he did leave this “open” and admit that anything could change.
The report adds that “WWE were adamant” that Triple H is still running creative.
It was noted that Triple H also squashed any speculation that WWE had already been sold.
Vince McMahon officially returned to WWE on January 6th. The billionaire had initially retired in July surrounded by allegations of serious sexual misconduct, while he also faces allegations of sexual assault. McMahon’s return to the Board of Directors came after they have previously blocked a comeback.
To ensure his return to the Board, McMahon ousted three serving members and replaced them with himself and two associates. On July 10th, Stephanie McMahon left the company and her role as co-CEO. Following her departure Vince McMahon was elected Executive Director.
