Triple H Shares New Details About New World Heavyweight Title

Triple H unveils the new WWE World Heavyweight Title

On April 24th Triple H announced that WWE would be introducing a new World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions.

The event is set to take place on May 27th in Saudi Arabia, on the same night that Roman Reigns hits 1000 days as World Champion.

Speaking at the pre-Backlash press conference, Triple H has now offered more details on how the new champion will be decided. Although the new championship will be exclusive to Raw, The Game confirmed that the tournament to crown the inaugural champion will also feature stars from SmackDown.

On the May 8th episode of Raw there will be two Triple Threat Matches and the winners will meet later that night. The same will then take place on SmackDown and the two winners will face each other at Night of Champions.

“A few weeks ago, I introduced the world to the new World Heavyweight Championship. Since then, with Roman Reigns and the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship being drafted to SmackDown, this world championship will now be the property of Monday Night Raw.

But starting after Backlash, this Monday night on Raw, we will begin a world heavyweight championship tournament. It will be across both brands. On Monday Night Raw, there will be two triple threat matches, with the winners facing each other later that night to determine a winner for Monday Night Raw. That Friday on SmackDown, the same thing will happen. Two Triple Threat matches will take place.

Those winners will face each other at the end of SmackDown to determine a winner there. Those two winners from Raw and SmackDown will then go on to Night of Champions, where one of them will be crowned the new World Heavyweight Champion,”
