Ever since taking charge of WWE’s creative direction last year, Triple H has been actively adding to the company’s roster.
Last summer saw the return of multiple former Superstars. Names like Johnny Gargano, Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed all came back to the promotion under the watch of the Game.
Despite, bringing back those who have been in the company previously the arrival of Dragon Lee in NXT suggested that WWE was once again looking at bringing some of wrestling’s top free agents.
That seemed to be the case in their pursuit of former NJPW talents Jay White and Kota Ibushi. Both of the former IWGP Heavyweight Champions recently left Japan’s number one promotion capturing the interest of WWE and AEW.
However, White was recently confirmed as being ‘All Elite’ after making his surprise debut on the April 5th episode of AEW Dynamite, while Ibushi revealed that AEW was his number-one choice in a recent interview.
Now, after being unable to secure two big-name talents, Triple H is pushing to ensure WWE sign another major free agent.
Triple H Wants WWE To Hire Nick Aldis
According to Fightful Select, the Game is “high on Nick Aldis” and wants to add him to the roster, however, since the return of Vince McMahon and the multi-billion dollar merger with UFC, there is a “hiring freeze” within the company.
Aldis is a former TNA and NWA World Heavyweight Champion with an impressive look, promo and in-ring skills. He was the face of NWA for years and put the promotion on his shoulders during its 2018 relaunch.
He held the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship for a whopping 1043 days before requesting his release from the company. The star publically criticised the promotion’s creative direction and was subsequently suspended.
Following his suspension Billy Corgan granted Aldis his release. Since leaving NWA, Aldis returned to the independent scene amidst strong rumours he is WWE bound.
