A former WWE Superstar has revealed that Triple H offered them the chance to wrestle again despite a history of serious neck issues.
Back in 2017 Saraya suffered a second serious neck injury, only weeks after returning the ring. As the British star began her recovery it quickly became apparent that her in-ring was likely over and she was forced to retire. Although the star known as Paige remained with WWE until July 2022 in a variety of non-wrestling roles, she was never cleared to wrestle again while with the company.
However, after her contract with WWE expired the star made her way to AEW and got back in the ring at Full Gear, defeating Britt Baker.
Triple H Gave Saraya Chance To Resume Career
Saraya left WWE before Triple H assumed creative control and the company was still being run by Vince McMahon. Although due to the gap between her leaving WWE and debuting with AEW there was an opportunity for The Game to try and convince her re-sign. Speaking in a new interview with Alistair McGeorge of The Metro, Saraya has revealed that during these conversations Triple H said he would support a potential in-ring comeback.
“Man, I do love Hunter, he’s so fantastic. He was like, “Wait what happened?!” I was like, “I dunno, they haven’t renewed my contract”. He was like, “Oh my gosh! Well I didn’t know that, so I’m sorry!” He was really fantastic.
“He did give me the opportunity to potentially be a GM again, and give me the opportunity to be like, “If you ever potentially want to wrestle again, I’ll give you that opportunity too”. He was very open about any ideas that I had.”
The the star admitted that this left her with a decision to make over whether she went back to WWE or join AEW.
“Do I wanna go back to WWE or do I want to go to AEW? Seeing Renee, she’s one of my best friends, and Mox as well, and Jericho, they were all calling me.”
Saraya will be back in action on the January 11th episode of Dynamite when she teams with Toni Storm to take on Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter.
