A popular star revealed in an interview that Triple H was not a fan of his character.
Carlito recently parted ways with WWE as his contract ran out and wasn’t renewed by the Stamford-based promotion. His character was always loved by the WWE Universe, but it seems that not everyone was a fan.
Appearing on the Busted Open Radio, the Puerto Rican star spoke about his last run with the company. He stated the difference this time around was that he showed up to work happier than he had during his previous run. He praised Triple H for making the locker room atmosphere less tense. The veteran also added that AEW being around helped stars, as they had another viable option if they ever had to leave the Stamford-based promotion.
When asked about his character and exit, Carlito said that the character and role were his ideas and that the news of his departure didn’t shock him. He also made a surprise revelation that Triple H wasn’t a big fan of his character. He said:
“I orchestrated that, those were all my ideas. I took literally when they had nothing for you and made something with it. I’ve been in there, so I am not going to complain, I knew I am one of the older guys, I am not going to be prioritized and not going to get pushed and Hunter’s not a fan of Carlito, I think he personally likes me, but I think he never was a big fan of the character.”
He added that the only complaint he had about his run was that he could not finish his storyline with The Judgement Day.
Carlito’s First Appearance Post WWE Confirmed
Though the news of his departure was shocking, Carlito’s popularity ensured that he would have no difficulty in finding work.
The former WWE United States Champion has plenty of work with WWC, which is his father’s promotion, and according to a report, he is set to appear at WrestleCon during the SummerSlam weekend on August 1st and 2nd.
