Triple H reportedly has big plans for one now-former NXT star.
Since taking on the role of Chief Content Officer, Triple H has brought back and featured a number of NXT stars that he had previously worked with during his time heading up the third brand.
On April 28th and May 1st, the latest batch of NXT stars made the move to the main roster as part of the Draft, sparking speculation among fans about who will be the next name to make an impact on Raw or SmackDown. Interestingly, it appears that one star, in particular, could be used in a prominent position.
According to a new report from WRKD Wrestling, Triple H has “high hopes” for Cameron Grimes, while he has a number of other supports backstage.
“While drafted last, we’ve heard HHH has high hopes for @CGrimesWWE, having long advocated for him to be called up. Between mic skills/body transformation, he has supporters backstage and a push is expected once the draft goes into effect.”
Grimes signed with WWE in 2019 and became an incredibly popular figure with fans in NXT. However, the star hasn’t wrestled on television since November 2022. Not that he’s been kicking his heels doing nothing. Grimes recently showed off an impressive body transformation, appearing to be more muscular than he ever has been previously.
It appears that fans won’t have to wait long to see Grimes in action after he was confronted by Baron Corbin on the May 5th episode of SmackDown. With Adam Pearce on hand, the match was made between the pair for May 12th.
Triple H Sets Stage For New World Heavyweight Champion
Speaking at the pre-Backlash press conference, Triple H has now offered more details on how WWE’s new World Heavyweight Champion will be decided. Although the new championship will be exclusive to Raw, The Game confirmed that the tournament to crown the inaugural champion will also feature stars from SmackDown.
On the May 8th episode of Raw there will be two Triple Threat Matches and the winners will meet later that night. The same will then take place on SmackDown and the two winners will face each other at Night of Champions.
