Triple H Defends WWE Unreal From Hate, Explains F1 Comparison

Triple H WWE Unreal Formula 1

Triple H defends the latest Netflix special, WWE: Unreal, as it receives a mixed reaction overall.

The reason behind some criticism is predominantly kayfabe. Athletes in the pro wrestling world are known to never openly discuss the matches and segments being staged and predetermined. This tradition is broken now with the new Netflix special.

Triple H Draws Comparisons Between WWE: Unreal And F1

On First Take, the WWE Chief Content Officer explains that it was a natural progression and that there is no rhyme or reason to take the criticisms seriously. He noted that people within the company are not worried about such things because if they were, they would not put on a show every week.

Furthermore, The Game also noted that a wider audience will be more appreciative of everything that goes into these weekly wrestling shows and explained an analogy using the world’s premier motorsport competition, Formula 1. Similar to WWE Unreal, Netflix’s “Drive To Survive” documents what happens behind the scenes in the world of F1, involving drivers and constructors.

People that weren’t fans of F1 racing, when they see the behind-the-scenes of everything that goes into it, that has increased their respect towards an industry,” Triple H gave an interesting analogy.

“[The people started to] respect what those athletes go through, and [they finally understand] what goes into bringing a race to life. I think [WWE: Unreal] only increases the respect level for what we do.

Are there people that are going to criticize? Yes. Are they going to see things out of context or moments in time that they want to criticize and jump on? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, we put on an amazing entertainment program that is seen by millions and millions of people around the globe.

This is a look into what everybody behind the scenes go through to put this show on. It is their life, passion, and we all come at it from that point of view. So I think at the end of the day, the passion earns respect from our fans and that’s why we’re doing it,” the WWE CCO concluded.

WWE: Unreal is now available to stream on Netflix. Several moments from the program have stood out, featuring stars Liv Morgan and CM Punk, with the latter getting candid about the cardinal sin in pro wrestling — breaking kayfabe.
