Triple H has come to the defence of Nick Khan after WWE’s co-CEO was blamed for a number of talent releases throughout 2021 and into 2022.
In recent years WWE have significantly trimmed their talent roster. As a result a large number of Superstars have been released at various points over the last two years.
These cuts have drawn criticism from many wrestling fans especially as budget cuts are often cited as the reason behind the releases. This is despite WWE continuing to record impressive financial figures year on year.
One man who bore the brunt of this criticism alongside Vince McMahon was Nick Khan. At the time Khan was WWE President and believed to be the person pulling the financial strings.
However, speaking in a new interview with Ariel Helwani, Triple H has come to the defence of Khan, claiming that he had nothing to do with the mass releases. The Game said that Khan was “getting battered” online for issues that simply weren’t his fault.
“There was a period of time… where the whole world was like, ‘That damn Nick Khan.’ It just makes me laugh. He had zero to do with those decisions that are happening, the poor guy. He’s just getting battered online for having zero to do with any of those stories.”
Continuing on, Triple H said that he couldn’t say enough good things about Khan and the work he has done in recent months.
Nick Khan joined WWE in 2020 and immediately became a force to be reckoned with within the company. Following Vince McMahon’s retirement on July 22nd Khan was appointed co-CEO alongside Stephanie McMahon. As part of the reshuffle Triple H was made Head of Creative.
The WWE Hall of Famer was recently promoted to Chief Content Officer.
