Triple H Declares Rising WWE Talent A “Star”

Triple H

As Chief Content Officer, Triple H has full creative control over WWE’s programming and is also in charge of talent relations for the WWE roster. As such, he’s heavily invested in his roster of superstars, and following WWE’s latest premium live event on February 18th, he had high praise for The Street Profits’ Montez Ford.

Ahead of the January 30th episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Austin Theory would defend his United States Championship inside the Elimination Chamber, and that multiple qualifying matches would be held to determine his challengers.

On February 6th, Montez Ford secured his place inside the Chamber when he defeated Elias on Monday Night Raw. His tag team partner Angelo Dawkins didn’t fare as well, however, losing his qualifying match to The Judgment Day’s Damian Priest earlier in the night. Bronson Reed, Johnny Gargano, and Seth Rollins also competed in the match.

Montez Ford Impressed Triple H With His Elimination Chamber Performance

February 18th saw Ford compete in the biggest singles match of his life, and his performance was nothing short of outstanding. Though he was eventually eliminated by Seth Rollins after Austin Theory got his knees up during a splash attempt, the star showed incredible fire and athleticism throughout the bout. At one point, he even climbed to the roof of the cage before dropping down onto his opponents.

Taking to social media after the match, Triple H had high praise for Ford after such a stellar performance, calling the former Raw Tag Team Champion a star.

Missed mentioning at the press conference…

But @MontezFordWWE is a STAR. #WWEChamber

In the end, Austin Theory was able to retain his United States Championship after interference from Logan Paul. When Ford was eliminated, he appeared to have suffered an injury, and the door to the Chamber was left open while he was assisted out of the ring and evaluated by medical staff. This allowed Paul to make a shock appearance for the first time since the Royal Rumble in January, attacking Seth Rollins and costing him the title that seemed to be within his grasp.
