Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has left many reeling following his recent comments – but now, he’s noted how much he pays attention to the competition!
Triple H has been a busy man over the last few days in the build-up to WWE Clash At The Castle, partaking in many interviews and press conferences. One of those was an interview with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, during which he made several comments regarding All Elite Wrestling.
Among them was ‘The Game’ stating how much attention he pays to AEW, having thrown shade at the Tony Khan-helmed organisation for beating WWE’s “developmental” system:
“It’s funny, I’ve heard Nick [Khan] say that. And I’ve heard people say to me it’s a cop-out answer. It’s not a cop-out answer, everything is competition to us, we [WWE] pay attention to everything, you have to. Do we pay attention to AEW? Do I watch it on a week-to-week basis? No. Am I aware of what’s happening there? To a degree.
I’m not following everything they do. There’s some times I’ll see that somebody would say, ‘Well it’s very similar to what they [AEW] are doing.’ No idea. Yeah, you know, at the end of the day, you have to focus on what you’re doing. You have to focus on your product. Because no matter what anybody else is doing, if people want to watch that product, [there’s] nothing I can do about it. There’s nothing that’s going to prevent me from doing that, right? Focus on my product, make my product the best product it can possibly be.”
Despite his negativity towards AEW, Triple H has been praised for answering the hard questions. Among other questions asked by Helwani and answered by ‘The King of Kings’ included news on Sasha Banks’ WWE status and the now-confirmed reports of Brock Lesnar walking out of SmackDown following Vince McMahon’s retirement.
Comments from ‘The Game’ regarding AEW beating NXT in the Wednesday Night Wars drew additional traction when Chris Jericho responded. During an interview with Inside The Ropes’ Alex McCarthy for talkWRESTLING, ‘The Wizard’ stated that “NXT sucks“.
