The June 1st edition of IMPACT Wrestling set a huge match set for the upcoming pay-per-view Slammiversary which will feature Trinity Fatu challenging Deonna Purrazzo for the Knockouts Championship.
Fatu signed for IMPACT Wrestling on April 28th before making her first appearance for the promotion on May 4th. Upon debuting she has risen quickly through the ranks picking up wins against the likes of KiLynn King, Gisele Shaw and Savannah Evans.
After defeating Evans, Fatu took to the microphone and called out Deonna Purrazzo for a Knockouts World Championship match at Slammiversary. The champion gladly accepted the challenge before she and Fatu were attacked by the trio of Evans, Shaw, and Jai Vidal.
The attack led to the announcement that the champ and challenger will team up to take on Shaw and Evans in tag team action at Against All Odds on June 9th. The event also features Steve Maclin vs. Alex Shelley for the IMPACT World Championship, Trey Miguel vs. Chris Sabin for the X-Division title and Killer Kelly vs. Masha Slammovich in a Dog Collar match.
Slammiversary Will Be Trinity Fatu’s First Title Match Since 2022
In March 2022, Trinity (then known as Naomi) alongside tag team partner Mercedes Mone (then known as Sasha Banks) famously walked out on WWE while they were the Women’s Tag Team Champions amidst reports of creative frustration and behind-the-scenes tension. They were subsequently stripped of their titles and suspended without pay.
After their departure, the two have remained closely linked and it was reported that Fatu would follow Mone to Japan and sign with Joshi-promotion STARDOM. However, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion chose to join IMPACT where she fight for gold for the first time since leaving WWE.
At the time of writing, there is no other match confirmed for the PPV, which takes place on July 15th at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
