The high-flying Trey Baxter landed on NXT for the first time on June 15th where he took on Kushida.
The man formerly known as Blake Christian, becoming the latest Superstar to answer the NXT Cruiserweight’s open challenge.
Another member of that class, Carmelo Hayes also made his NXT debut in recent weeks, also taking on Kushida.
Despite a strong showing, Baxter was eventually defeated by Kushida but not before impressing a watching Kyle O’Reilly. The former NXT Tag Team Champion entered the ring after the match to issue a challenge of his own to the Cruiserweight Champion for the following week.
The June 15th episode of the show also saw the WWE return of Samoa Joe.
With NXT General Manager William Regal seemingly about to step down from his post, NXT Champion Karrion Kross with Scarlett by his side, confronted the Brit. After Kross ran down the GM, Samoa Joe marched to to the ring, where Regal offered him the chance to become General Manager.
However, Joe turned Regal down countering that he would become the GM’s enforcer to make sure he gets the respect he deserves. Regal accepted the proposal as Joe told Kross and Scarlett to leave the ring.
