As WWE Crown Jewel moves ever closer, so does the backstage tension around the event. Or so says a new report.
On November 1st it was reported that Saudi Arabia – the home of WWE Crown Jewel – had shared knowledge of an “imminent attack” from Iran with the United States. The report added that the United States, Saudi Arabia and it’s neighbours had “raised the level of alert for their military forces.”
This was followed by a further report which stated that WWE have backup plans and emergency contingencies in place should the situation escalate. It should also be noted that at time of writing there are no plans to cancel the show. Something reiterated by Fightful Select.
“A Lot” Of Trepidation Ahead Of WWE Crown Jewel
Naturally the reports of unrest in Saudi Arabia have increased the level of unease around the show backstage within WWE. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that there is some nervousness backstage about the event.
“There was a lot of trepidation and normally the people going on the trip are trepidatious normally going in, but now you have this on top of everything else, so … it appears that the show must go on, and hopefully everything turns out all right.”
The show is set to be headlined by the huge Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match between Roman Reigns and Logan Paul. Elsewhere, Bianca Belair defends her Raw Women’s Crown against Bayley in a Last Woman Standing match, while Bray Wyatt will also be on the show.
