The first match announced for WWE Crown Jewel was one for the books as record-breaking Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is set to go one on one with YouTube sensation Logan Paul. The two have had numerous confrontations on WWE SmackDown, and if victorious, Paul will end the longest World Championship reign of the modern era that’s fast approaching 800 days.
Logan Paul, who signed a WWE contract back in June, has an undefeated record in WWE. Making his in-ring debut alongside The Miz at WrestleMania 37, he found himself with a tag team victory over Rey and Dominik Mysterio. However, after Miz turned on him after the bout, he took on his former partner in singles action at SummerSlam, where he was once again victorious.
Roman Reigns commented after Logan Paul was photographed training with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels
There’s no doubt that Logan Paul has impressed in his WWE outings to date, but he’s clearing taking training seriously ahead of his bout at WWE Crown Jewel. Recently, WWE posted photos of the YouTube star training with two-time WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, who in addition to being hailed as one of the best WWE Superstars of all time serves as Senior Vice President of Talent Creative behind the scenes in WWE NXT. One photo appeared to show Paul in the middle of a shooting star press in a tremendous show of athleticism.
Seeing the photos on social media, Roman Reigns commented that Paul would need all the help he could get ahead of their bout. He also took a jab at Shawn Michaels’ infamous Backlash 2006 bout where he teamed with “God” (represented by a spotlight in the ring) to take on the team of Shane & Vince McMahon in a losing effort.
“He’s gonna need all the help he can get. Hopefully he’s training with God next week. #WWECrownJewel”

Also scheduled for WWE Crown Jewel is a bout between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, which was set up after Lesnar made his surprise return to WWE for the first time since SummerSlam on the October 10th season premiere of WWE Raw. He delivered multiple F5’s to Lashley before locking in a Kimura, which damaged Lashley’s arm enough that he was unable to apply the Hurt Lock in his United States Championship match against Seth Rollins. Lashley lost the title after falling victim to multiple Stomps.
