Tracy Smothers has sadly been hospitalised, due to his battle with cancer and other complications. The update comes courtesy of an update from Brian Heffron, AKA The Blue Meanie.
Across his career, Smothers wrestled in WWE, WCW and ECW, as well as Smoky Mountain Wrestling. Smothers was diagnosed with Stage III Lymphoma in November, 2019. Cancer was found in lymph nodes on both sides of Smothers’ diaphragm, with the legendary wrestler also losing 45% of the functionality of his heart due to blockage in his arteries. It was suspected by doctors that Tracy had suffered a heart attack without even realising it.
Sadly, Smothers is now in hospital, as detailed by Heffron. The former ECW star confirmed the news in a message of support:
“My mind and heart are with Tracy Smothers tonight as I’m hearing of his battle with cancer and other complications have him hospitalized. This hurts my heart. I am who I am in wrestling because he helped mold me and countless others. I love you man! Keep fighting!”
Earlier this year, Chris Hero set up a GoFundMe page to help with Smothers’ cancer battle. At that point in time, Smothers was finishing up his chemotherapy. Chris Hero also released a shirt with 100% of the profits being donated to Smothers to help with bills during such a difficult time, and the former WWE Superstar shared an uplifting quote from the man himself.
“Life is a battle & I’m in it to win it.” – Tracy Smothers
We, at Inside The Ropes, send our best wishes to Tracy Smothers, and his friends, family and fans during this difficult time.
