WWE Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson has recalled the time she branded John Cena a “jobber” after they competed in a match on a UK tour.
During a recent virtual meet-and-greet & signing with The Asylum Wrestling Store, Torrie Wilson opened up the time she competed in mixed tag team action against the 16-time World Champion. Wilson, who had previously performed as Samantha in WCW, had beaten Cena in the squared circle with Wilson teaming with Billy Kidman and Cena partnered with Dawn Marie in a mixed tag team match at WWE Rebellion 2002.
“You know what? It’s so funny, I remember on that [UK] tour, that was before [John Cena] really hit it big, and I remember teasing him backstage and calling him a jobber, which is like what we call each other when we lose all the time, and I kind of pride myself on that because it was just way before — who would ever call him a jobber? No-one.”
Wilson had recently also appeared on WWE’s The Bump to discuss how WWE’s acquisition of WCW actually saved her wrestling career, as well as opening up about how difficult it was to try and make her in-ring performance look athletic and entertaining before revealing her pride at the progression of women’s wrestling.
