Top WWE Star Says They Have Been Pushing For UK WrestleMania Long Before John Cena Tried To Take Credit

Drew McIntyre has spoken out on a major WWE event that UK fans have been clamouring for and how he has been flying the flag long before John Cena.

Making a surprise appearance at Money in the Bank 2023, Cena made his intentions clear that he wanted the UK to host a WrestleMania. The scenario has been teased multiple times since with Triple H and Nick Khan flying out to London to meet with the city’s Mayor Nick Khan about possibly hosting the event.

Although Cena may receive some of the credit if a UK Mania ever does happen, he was not the first to push for the show. While speaking with The Daily Star, Drew McIntyre was asked about the chances of a major WWE PLE taking place in the country given the success of the European tour. Still believing that it is possible, McIntyre reminded the fans that it shouldn’t be Cena they should be thanking if the dream comes true:

“These days I have a very different mindset than what I used to have, in that anything and everything is possible. It’s not just that there’s going to be a big show in the UK at some point. I believe there is going to be a WrestleMania.

I’ve said that from the moment I started believing that anything is possible. So if you want your headline, John Cena tried to claim credit for it when we came to London a couple of years back. I said it first that there would be a Mania in the UK before Cena started running around trying to take credit.

Drew McIntyre said it first because I know it’s going to happen eventually.”

Also in the interview, Drew McIntyre spoke out about not being in a title match at WrestleMania 41.
