Top WWE Star Recalls Concerns Over CM Punk And Randy Orton Returns

CM Punk Randy Orton WWE

Randy Orton and CM Punk shocked the world with their 2023 WWE return.

After missing out on action for almost 18 months, Randy Orton made his shocking return during the WarGames match against Judgment Day. However, the Chicago crowd was left stunned when they heard ‘Cult of Personality’ hit as the show started to close. Making his jaw-dropping return to the promotion after a span of almost 9-years, CM Punk arrived from AEW to WWE.

Former United States Champion, LA Knight, has been enjoying the run of his life, with massive popularity amongst the fans. Arguably one of the most over-stars on the roster for the last two years, Knight recently opened up on the concerns he had when Orton and Punk returned at Survivor Series.

Speaking to Metro, The Megastar shared how he started having doubts about his run. A few weeks ago, before the returns, LA Knight had lost to Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel. Believing his loss alongside the two big returns could hurt his momentum, Knight stated,

“Randy comes back, CM Punk comes back. And I’m like, “Alright, well, now the perception is going to be, “I got defeated, now these guys are here, so now I fade”. And I think a lot of people [had] kind of taken that stance for a moment.’”

Despite his second feelings, Knight saw the tide change as 2024 began, and he found himself in big matches at WrestleMania XL and SummerSlam 2024.

“Along came the Royal Rumble, and then beyond that, then came WrestleMania. And then from there, it was like, okay, now we’re getting to this fever pitch again. We get to SummerSlam, me and Logan Paul, and the place blew the roof off. So yeah, it was always going to be ebbs and flows and little peaks and valleys and stuff like that.’”

LA Knight is currently feuding with Shinsuke Nakamura for his United States Championship, and the duo are scheduled to face each other next on the 28th February episode of SmackDown.

LA Knight Comments On The Competitive Edge In WWE And Pro-Wrestling

In the same interview with Metro, The Megastar opened up on the existing competitive edge in WWE and pro wrestling in general.

“I think for years and years of being on the independents and different companies and whatnot, you just get used to kind of looking over your shoulder and just thinking, “Alright, at any point somebody’s gonna try and pull the carpet out from under me.

So, I mean, I’m always just kind of on edge in that certain way where it’s like, I got put in that position, and then I’m just like, “Alright, well, now what?”

With over 10 years in the industry now, Knight, previously known as Eli Drake, has established himself as one of the biggest-drawing and charismatic stars and still has much more to go.
