It is well-known that in the past, WWE had a list of words that were not to be used on TV. One of those was the word ‘wrestling’ itself.
Now, Trish Stratus has questioned why that is. The legend was discussing stars who could join her in the Hall of Fame during an appearance on After The Bell when the word came up.
Stratus said that she’s a wrestler who works for World Wrestling Entertainment, so doesn’t get why they don’t say that.
“I love Tori Wilson and Stacy Keibler, but this is a wrestling….I don’t know why we don’t say wrestling for some reason.
“I don’t know why, because I’m a wrestler and we work for World Wrestling Entertainment.”
While under Vince McMahon, it was true that ‘wrestling’ was on a list of words that were not meant to be said, since Triple H became Chief Content Officer last year, there has been a loosening of these restrictions.
The multi-time Women’s Champion went on to say she would like to see a wrestler like her former rival Victoria get the nod.
“But yeah, I mean, I’d like to see, maybe a wrestler maybe get into the Hall of Fame next, maybe like Victoria would be great.”

Stratus came out of retirement earlier in 2023 for a huge inter-generational six-woman tag team bout at WrestleMania 39. The match saw her team with Lita and Becky Lynch to defeat Bayley’s Damage CTRL.
Then, on the April 10th edition of Raw, the star shockingly attacked her partners, turning heel for the first time in two decades. There is speculation that she is now on a collision course with Lynch at SummerSlam.
However, with the summer spectacular still four months away, Stratus has turned her attention to the current Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champions, Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley, saying she believes she can dethrone either woman and win gold.
