One of the biggest stars in WWE has high praise for The Rock after being previously put over by The People’s Champion in an interview.
Despite being one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, The People’s Champion 2024 run has seen him make more appearances than most would have anticipated along with multiple promos on social media to his millions [and millions] of followers to make WrestleMania 40 as big as possible.
On April 6th, The Great One will compete in his first major match in more than 10 years as he teams with Roman Reigns to take on the team of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. With a future match with Rhodes teased and a one-on-one match with Reigns also expected, the Mania match is unlikely to be a one-off.
Discussing the return of The Rock with The Scottish Sun, Drew McIntyre credited the former World Champion for still having a passion for wrestling all these years later:
“When it comes to The Rock, it’s amazing he has such a passion for our business still. It’s in his blood and inevitably he became one of the biggest stars of all time in our industry and then the biggest star on planet earth – and he still wants to come back to wrestling. It can only be a good thing because it brings so many extra eyeballs and those people become new fans – maybe they came for The Rock and stayed for Drew McIntyre,”
Continuing, McIntyre recalled a previous conversation he had with The Rock after the Hollywood star hailed him as the next big thing in a TMZ interview:
“I spoke to him and thanked him for putting me over in a TMZ interview. I wasn’t doing anything in particular, it wasn’t like I was the next one to break through. I was just fulfilling my role on the show and he was asked who he could see being the next breakout star and mentioned me. It gave me a kick in the butt. When someone like The Rock believes in you, it’s pretty cool. The first chance we got, I thanked him for that privately and he was appreciative of that too. He’s remained down to earth and he’s very smart when it comes to business, and I’m very fortunate to be able to pick his brain,”
Ending the interview by being asked what the future holds for Drew McIntyre, The Scottish Warrior admitted that like many other stars he would love to be in the same match as The Rock as either an ally or opponent:
“Whether it’s a match with or being in the same team as him, as long as the story makes sense, who wouldn’t want to be a part of something with The Rock?”
In regards to The Rock, his beatdown of Cody Rhodes continued after the show went off the air.
New Report Shines Light On Major Angle Featuring The Rock
Following his return to WWE, the former World Champion has been given a lot more leeway than has been seen in the past including the foul language and blood. In regards to the violent angle on a recent episode of Raw, a recent report has shed light as to why The Rock and Cody Rhodes were able to break a long-standing rule.
