Top WWE Star Comments On What Dwayne Johnson’s Return Would Mean For The Company

Dwayne Johnson

As the Royal Rumble draws closer, rumors are flying about a possible WWE comeback for Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), maybe at the Rumble event itself or at WrestleMania 39, which will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has recently mentioned that Johnson’s much-discussed return to the WWE might not be a physical return at all, since he does not have enough time to get into suitable condition for a long-proposed bout with his cousin Roman Reigns.

It has been a decade since Dwayne Johnson competed in his last real match; a WWE Title bout against John Cena at WrestleMania 29. During this match, he suffered multiple injuries that caused delays in filming the movie projects he was involved in. Three years later, the People’s Champ did make a return to the ring, albeit in a non-traditional way, to defeat Erick Rowan with a Rock Bottom in a “match” that lasted less than 10 seconds.

“It’ll Be Good For All Of Us” If Dwayne Johnson Comes Back

Recently, WWE star Bobby Lashley was the subject of an interview with Sportskeeda’s Wrestle Binge and stated that if Dwayne Johnson were to make a return to WWE, it would bring in a lot of attention.

“What would it mean to the company? The Rock is a huge star. So, of course, if he comes back, it’s going to bring a lot of notoriety to us, and being in Hollywood this year, I think there would be a good opportunity that he may be back.”

Bobby Lashley declared that he was uncertain if Johnson would make a return.

“I don’t know. I have been asked several times if The Rock is coming back. We don’t know anything. I don’t even know what I’m doing next week. I can’t really tell you what The Rock is doing, but of course, everybody would love to see The Rock. He’s a huge star. So if he comes back, it’ll be good for all of us.”

Lashley is set to take on Austin Theory for the US Title on January 23rd’s special 30th anniversary of Raw. In the near future, it is rumoured that the faction he was previously a part of, The Hurt Business, is set to reunite.
