Jacob Fatu might just be the breakout WWE star of 2025. His popularity is so high that one of the company’s biggest names carried him up on his shoulders after teaming up for a bout, in an ironic moment.
Since his WWE return in 2022, Cody Rhodes’ biggest rival had been The Bloodline. Although Rhodes had crossed paths with The Samoan Werewolf before, it was the 33-year-old’s cousin, Solo Sikoa, whom he had to deal with inside the squared circle. Last year, The American Nightmare defeated Sikoa in the main event of SummerSlam to retain the Undisputed WWE Title. There is so much history already between the two royal families of pro wrestling, i.e., Anoa’i and the Rhodes. However, in 2025, a lot of things have changed.
This year’s King of the Ring, Cody Rhodes, teamed up with real-life Bloodline members Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu to defeat The MFT (United States Champion Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, and Tonga Loa) at WWE’s recent live SuperShow in Mexico City. Post-match, The American Nightmare lifted The Samoan Werewolf on his shoulders to celebrate with the audience.
Cody Rhodes Joins Jacob Fatu To Take Down Solo Sikoa And His MFTs At WWE’s SuperShow In Mexico City
SummerSlam is right around the corner. At MetLife Stadium this weekend, Sikoa will defend the US Title against Fatu inside a steel cage.
The Street Champion brought Jacob Fatu’s reign to a screeching halt at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia last month, and The Samoan Werewolf will be out for blood. Meanwhile, Rhodes will challenge Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
But first things first, he handled business with his rival-turned-ally in Mexico City. Teaming up with Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso, the trio went on to defeat Sikoa, Mateo, and Tonga Loa of The MFT. In the post-match celebration, The American Nightmare lifted The Samoan Werewolf on his shoulders and acknowledged the passionate Mexican audience.

Meanwhile, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi has teased an interference in the upcoming US Title bout between Fatu and his son, Sikoa. While a title win for The Samoan Werewolf at The Biggest Party of the Summer makes sense as he is the babyface in the equation, perhaps the 33-year-old could take the loss without getting pinned. Although WWE’s clever choice of stipulation raises curiosity, maybe The Samoan Werewolf could move on to a bigger picture. Only time will tell what goes down this weekend at the first-ever two-night SummerSlam.
