Cameron Grimes has been absent from WWE NXT television in recent months, last competing on the November 8th episode of the show in a losing effort against Joe Gacy. A November report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer indicated that the plan was indeed for the star to debut on either WWE Raw or WWE SmackDown following his loss to Gacy, but fans hoping to see the meme stock mogul have yet to see him debut.
Now, a new report from Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio indicates that the main roster is still the plan for the former NXT North American Champion, but that those in creative don’t currently have a story for him.
“Cameron Grimes was finishing up in NXT because he was being called to the main roster and right now what’s going on is that they are waiting for an idea on the main roster so he’s in limbo. He’s finished with NXT, he’s supposed to be on the main roster but they don’t have a story for him so they haven’t debuted him yet and they’re waiting to come up with a story for him.” (h/t F4WOnline)
Grimes captured the hearts of NXT audiences in 2021 when he became an accidental millionaire who invested in GameStop. He feuded with Ted DiBiase and LA Knight during this time, even becoming LA Knight‘s butler when he failed to win the Million Dollar Championship. He eventually won the belt from Knight, saving DiBiase from becoming a butler himself. He also went on to become NXT North American Champion.
