Major WWE heels flip the script and give massive praise to Bayley and Finn Balor.
This week’s WWE NXT was filled with exciting and surprising moments, among them being the return of #DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. The duo had a notable run in NXT in 2016 that saw them win the brand’s Tag Team Championship and battle in several memorable matches.
Although they have won gold in the main roster after reuniting in 2023, many fans agree that their prime remained on the developmental brand. Still, the duo began picking up steam on WWE SmackDown, where they have been functioning as a heel since December last year after attacking Motor City Machine Guns. However, it seems like the duo has returned to their roots.
On the September 2 episode of WWE NXT, Trick Williams was cutting a promo where he said that the fans’ favorite superstars don’t love them, and he was interrupted by DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. DIY was welcomed warmly and with a resounding applause from fans, despite initially being a heel. They started their return by saying they love the fans and were present at the brand to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the group’s NXT debut.
The duo then mocked Williams, who initially claimed he was the greatest. Johnny pointed out that even if Trick was a two-time NXT Champion, Ciampa also did the same, and Johnny was not only a former brand champion but also won the North American title three times.
However, they noted that one advantage Trick has is that he won the TNA World Championship. Still, they bragged about their accomplishments as a tag team, but DIY did not just shine light on their accolades, but also on their fellow NXT alumni.
#DIY Gives A Nod To Finn Balor, Bayley, And Other WWE NXT Greats
Continuing on their promo against Trick Williams, Johnny Gargano continued that it doesn’t matter if somebody was a Demon, Hugger, Undisputed, or Glorious, as one thing they all had in common was their love and passion for the fans and the WWE NXT brand. These statement was a reference to Finn Balor, Bayley, The Undisputed Era, and Bobby Roode, respectively.
Unsurprisingly, Trick Williams didn’t appreciate their sentiments and continued to claim he was the greatest. As tensions rose, #DIY and the TNA World Champion quickly became physical, with Gargano and Ciampa standing tall at the end of the segment.
It will be interesting to see what will happen next between DIY and Trick Williams in WWE NXT.
