On May 12th it was reported that a pitch had been made to turn one of SmackDown’s biggest female stars heel.
Fast-forward just a few hours, and this report came to pass.
On the show, a championship celebration was held for Bianca Bianca as she is now the longest-reigning Women’s Champion of the modern era. The EST of WWE won the Raw Women’s Title back at WrestleMania 38 and made her most recent defence at Backlash against Iyo Sky. Although the title picture remains far from clear with Raw Champion Belair drafted to SmackDown and the blue brand’s champion Rhea Ripley drafted to Raw.
As it turned out Belair’s celebration was over before it even began. After coming to the ring, she was quickly cut off by Asuka who spat mist in her face. Later in the show, Belair was shown backstage frantically trying to get trainers to get the mist out of her eyes.
Roman Reigns To Compete At WWE Night Of Champions
Also on the show, Roman Reigns made his first return to the blue brand since WrestleMania 39. Reigns held court with The Bloodline in the ring and praised Solo Sikoa for rising to become a vital part of the group. However, he wasn’t as impressed with The Usos given their recent losses, including losing the Undisputed Tag Team Titles to Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at WrestleMania 39.
After demanding an apology, the Tribal Chief shoved Jimmy in the face, but Jey jumped in and apologised saying they wanted one more chance to bring the gold back home.
While Reigns agreed that the gold needed to come back to The Bloodline, he had another plan for making it happen. After handing the microphone to Paul Heyman, it was announced that Reigns will team with Sikoa to take on Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at Night of Champions.
