On a night of thrills and spills and top WWE star has turned heel in the wake of big match controversy at SummerSlam.
At SummerSlam 2022 Liv Morgan put her SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line against former champion Ronda Rousey.
The former UFC star was defeated by Morgan at Money In The Bank after she had won the Money In The Bank briefcase earlier in the night.
In the weeks that followed Morgan enjoyed her whirlwind success, but Rousey wasn’t far away to remind the champion that she was only holding that belt because she was injured before she was pinned. Any doubts over who deserves the title were due to be settled at SummerSlam, but all that came out of the clash was more controversy.
While Rousey had the better of the match, Morgan refused to quit and stayed in contention. In fact, not only did Morgan stay in contention, she also scored the win after countering an Arm Bar submission into a pinning predicament. However, all was not quite as it seemed.
While Rousey’s shoulders were on the mat, Morgan tapped out before the referee counted the three, meaning that the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet” won the bout. Much to the disgust of Rousey, the submission went unseen by the referee, and she completely snapped.
Rousey attacked Morgan, and then a referee before berating the crowd and anyone who would listen.
While Liv Morgan has walked out of SummerSlam with her prized SmackDown Women’s Championship, this war is far from over.
