Former ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham has reportedly asked for his release after “cussing out” Tony Khan.
At Death Before Dishonor on July 23rd, Claudio Castagnoli defeated Jonathan Gresham to capture the ROH World Championship, his first-ever world title.
However, while it was a night of celebration for Castagnoli, the opposite was reportedly true for Gresham.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, Gresham could be “done” with both AEW and ROH only three months after signing a new contract with the companies.
Fightful goes on to note that the former champion asked Tony Khan for his release ahead of the pay-per-view and after feeling disrespected by the lack of communication from the company.
The short amount of time given to the title match at the show is also said to have played a part in his decision. During his meeting with Khan, Gresham also seemingly “cussed out” the AEW President over these frustrations.
However, Fightful added that there has been no confirmation that Gresham has been granted his release.
The news comes after Jonathan Gresham claimed in a recent interview with Wrestle Purists that he hadn’t “really talked to” Tony Khan and had no idea what the AEW President thinks of him.
