Drew McIntyre, one of WWE’s main attractions, is no longer scheduled for Friday Night SmackDown after being pulled because of medical concerns.
Drew McIntyre Medically Disqualified From Appearing On SmackDown
In a tweet sent on December 5, 2022, former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre made the following announcement;
Unfortunately I am medically disqualified to compete this Friday on #Smackdown
I don’t like to miss any shows as everybody knows but I promise I’ll be back soon
There is no word on what the medical issue is at this time. All WWE superstars must undergo tests to ensure their body is in a particular condition before stepping into the ring. Injuries are often picked up and assessed by WWE’s medical officials. Obviously, the hope will be that Drew McIntyre’s medical issue is not too serious so that he can continue competing on SmackDown after a brief break.
In a similar situation in August, Drew McIntyre was pulled from house shows following an injury scare. This was due to a back injury, which did not require surgery but did lead to him taking some time to rest. He still fulfilled his obligation to battle Roman Reigns for the Universal Title on the Clash at the Castle show.
McIntyre has mentioned that he will be back soon. More details about his condition will likely be reported in the coming days.
Drew McIntyre’s last in-ring appearance was at Survivor Series 2022, where he teamed with Kevin Owens & The Brawling Brutes in a losing effort against The Bloodline. Since then, he has not appeared on WWE television, which has left a question mark over his status.
Elsewhere on the Friday Night’s SmackDown show, eleven-time World Champion Kurt Angle is scheduled to celebrate his birthday. Angle last appeared on the August 29 episode of Monday Night Raw, where he took part in segments with The Street Profits and long-time rival Edge.
