Some of NXT’s top names are reportedly in discussions to be called up to the main roster, including multiple former champions!
With WrestleMania 38 in the books, discussions are beginning to swirl about which NXT stars may soon be called up to Raw or SmackDown. While the Raw after WrestleMania didn’t feature any call-ups as it has in the past, new reports from Fightful Select indicate that multiple top stars are indeed being discussed by the company.
The first report indicates that Imperium is being discussed for a main roster call-up, and the group would most likely be headed to SmackDown. Interestingly, the names being pitched are Gunther (previously known as WALTER) and Marcel Barthel specifically, but not their stablemate Fabian Aichner, which may explain the angle on this week’s NXT 2.0 that saw Aichner walk out on Barthel during their match with the Creed Brothers.
The report also notes that when Gunther moved to the United States, the plan was always for him to move to either Raw or SmackDown.
A second report revealed that former NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez and LA Knight have also been part of discussions. Fightful Select notes that Gonzalez is heavily expected to be called up, but that Knight’s future seems less certain to those within the company.
Raquel Gonzalez recently won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship at Stand & Deliver after reuniting with former best friend Dakota Kai, but the two lost the titles back to Toxic Attraction just days later on NXT 2.0. LA Knight was defeated by Gunther at Stand & Deliver, and Imperium lost their tag titles to MSK at the event.
