Report Claims Top Matches “Already In Place” For WrestleMania 39

WrestleMania 39

After a video package for Money In The Bank recently sparked speculation about WrestleMania 39, a new report has claimed that the top matches are already set.

At WrestleMania Backlash a promo package featuring Cody Rhodes set tongues wagging after it implied that the respective winners of the Money In The Bank contracts would be appearing in the main event of WrestleMania.

This would mark a departure from the usual Money In The Bank format which saw the winners have the opportunity to compete for the World Championship at any point during the next year. While this has included the chance to appear in the main event of WrestleMania, as Seth Rollins did at WrestleMania 31, it wasn’t part of the stipulation.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has now offered a fresh look into the reaction to the video package. Meltzer notes that some within WWE thought that comment was simply a mistake and wasn’t caught before broadcast. However, the same package was also shown during Raw and NXT 2.0.

The report adds that the “only company word” regarding what matches the winners get, is that there is nothing definitive.

However, another source commented that plans for the main event matches at WrestleMania 39 are already confirmed.

“Another person said that Vince has plans already in place for the top matches at Mania and the winners of MITB in the title matches wouldn’t be that,”

It has long been suggested that the two main events for WrestleMania 39 will be a huge showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns, while Becky Lynch will take on Ronda Rousey. Although it is important to note that there has been no official word on the card at this time.

WrestleMania 39 is scheduled to take place across April 1st and April 2nd 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
